I’m Cora, the owner of Dead Horse Vintage. I grew up in Southern Vermont and have loved fashion, design and antiques for as long as I can remember. Something clicked when I moved to Austin in 2006 and started engaging with the vintage clothing world for the first time. I’m fascinated with the life of objects and found I could combine that with my love of fashion and styling. I love so many different styles and eras of fashion, from 1940s sportswear to the structured silhouettes of the 50s, the playful prints and innovative cuts of 60s mod and space age designs and the warm tones and textures of the 70s. Some of my favorite designers are Claire McCardell, Luis Estévez, Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Féraud, and Mary Quant. I love workwear from every era and watching the small changes that occur in garments designed for specific functions. Most of all, I love giving new life to pieces that have been unworn for many years and bringing them to you.
